MHC Alloy Electrode

1.What’s MHC Alloy Electrode?
MHC alloy electrode (Molybdenum Hafnium Carbon Alloy Electrode) is a high-performance conductive electrode for high-temperature applications. It uses high-purity molybdenum (Mo ≥98.5%) as the matrix with additions of hafnium (Hf 1.0%–1.2%) and carbon (C 0.05%–0.15%) and is manufactured by powder metallurgy.
2.Advantages of CTIA’s MHC Alloy Electrode
(1) In-situ formation of nanoscale HfC dispersion-strengthened phase during solidification and sintering, significantly improving high-temperature strength and arc erosion resistance through grain boundary pinning and dislocation hindrance, suitable for high-energy arc and extreme thermal load conditions.
(2) Maintains stable electrical conductivity and structural integrity under high-temperature arc and high-current loading conditions.
(3) High melting point (2620°C) and low vapor pressure enable stable performance in high-temperature vacuum and strong arc environments.
(4) High thermal conductivity (120–150 W/(m·K)) combined with low thermal expansion coefficient effectively reduces thermal stress concentration and tip damage risk.
(5) Recrystallization temperature above 1500°C ensures excellent structural stability and resistance to softening during long-term high-temperature service.
(6) Stable electron emission performance enables fast arc ignition and continuous stable operation.
3.Applications of CTIA’s MHC Alloy Electrode
(1) Electrodes for Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) and Electroslag Remelting (ESR) metallurgy.
(2) Electrodes for high-power plasma arc heating, cutting, and cladding equipment.
(3) High-temperature plasma generators and industrial arc heating.
(4) Stable discharge electrodes in semiconductor fabrication and high-purity material preparation.
(5) Electrodes for aerospace material melting and high-energy beam experiments.
(6) Scientific vacuum discharge, high-temperature plasma, and material simulation experimental apparatus.
